Dive Club Meeting Minutes

From July 5, 2000, IHOP North

About 22 Divers met with the Loggerhead Dive Club at their new meeting place, the IHOP in North Lakeland.  The meeting room was excellent and quiet so we could talk and visit as well as hear the speaker.

Art Dye presided and there were no visitors.

Program- after a major effort, technology just wouldn’t cooperate. So Sharon Collins was not able to present the multimedia presentation on Reef Creatures and Reef Corals by Paul Humann. Look for this program again in the future. Thanks for your patience.

T-shirts– Pat talked to 2 people about doing shirts for us, like the old shirt design with the logo on the back. Art work charge would be approximately $75. Screen set-up would be approximately $90. Shirts would be $11-11.50. Minimum order is 6 doz. Initial outlay and shirt order would be app. $800. Bob Kinsey moved to order shirts. Seconded by Leonard Wood. Discussion held about ownership of artwork, etc. Pat will check back with these questions. Motion passed to continue, contingent on club owning the artwork.

Raffle- The following winners were:

Gary Bence– Lobster bag; Ed Munger– Lobster snare; Sharon Collins– DAN membership; Lewis Munger– Gloves; Bill Borchert– gloves; Art Dye-Tickle stick & net; Willie Triplett– gloves.

Next year’s out-of Country trip– initial planning needs to be done for next year’s trip, so people will be able to save money. Suggestions for places to go were solicited from members– Lewis Munger suggested Isla Mujeres off the coast of Yucatan Peninsula near Cancun. Leonard suggested Bonaire. Will try to get info on these places.

Pictures of trips

If any one has pictures they have taken on dive club trips and would like to share, send to Bill Collins to publish in newsletter or on website.

Meeting adjourned. Sharon Collins, Sec.
